Can't talk after a stroke?

My father had a stroke recently, and now he's finding it very difficult to talk. He tries to speak, but the words don't come out right, or he can't form sentences properly. It's very frustrating for him and for us as a family.

Don't lose hope at all! 🥰 Speech therapy can work wonders to help the brain rewire itself after a stroke. Keep encouraging them and practice small words together every single day. Sending you lots of positive vibes! ✨

My grandfather also lost his speech after a stroke, but with regular sessions from a speech therapist, he slowly started speaking short sentences. Use a writing pad or a tablet for communication in the beginning to reduce their frustration. It takes time, but keep trying.

Communication doesn't always need words; even showing pictures of their favorite foods can help them express what they want to eat. Try using a simple picture board with options like chai, water, or khichdi. It makes daily life much easier for them while they recover.

It is incredibly heartbreaking to see a loved one look at you and struggle to speak even a single word. My father went through this, and the emotional frustration for the patient is immense. Please be patient, hold their hand, and let them know you understand.

This condition is known as aphasia, which happens when the stroke affects the language center of the brain. Our neurologist explained that the first six months are crucial for neuroplasticity. Starting professional speech therapy immediately gives the patient the best chance of recovery.
