Can't sleep racing heart?

Every night, just as I try to settle down and sleep, my heart starts racing really fast. It's quite alarming and keeps me awake for hours. I've tried deep breathing, but it doesn't seem to help much. What could be causing this?

I have been feeling this lately too and it is really scary. Does your heart start beating fast as soon as you lie down, or does it happen later in the night? I am trying to understand if this is just normal stress or something more.

This exact thing kept me awake last night and I was so close to panic. Do you guys also get a sudden thumping in your chest just when you are about to fall asleep? It makes me so worried that I can't sleep at all after that.

A racing heart at night can be triggered by simple things like caffeine or anxiety, but it can also indicate thyroid issues or arrhythmias. It is always safest to get an ECG and a basic blood panel done. Please consult a physician rather than trying to guess the cause.

Please check your blood sugar levels when this happens. Sometimes, a sudden drop in sugar (hypoglycemia) during the night causes the body to release adrenaline, making your heart race. I keep a small glucose snack nearby just in case, but definitely consult your doctor.

First, take a deep breath. Sit up on the side of your bed and drink a glass of cool water slowly. Often, our mind spirals and makes the heart beat even faster. If this is a regular thing, go get it checked by a doc this week so you can sleep peacefully.

Please do not ignore this symptom. I used to think my nighttime palpitations were just due to work stress, until it turned out to be an actual cardiovascular issue that needed immediate medical attention. Get yourself evaluated by a doctor right away.
