Can sugar in fruits cause diabetes?

My doctor always tells me to eat fruits for their vitamins, but then I hear that fruits also have sugar, and sugar can lead to diabetes. I'm confused about this. Can the natural sugar present in fruits cause diabetes?

No, fruit sugar (fructose) won't give you diabetes because it comes packed with fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Fiber slows down digestion so your insulin doesn't spike like it does with processed sugar. Keep eating your fruits, just avoid drinking packaged fruit juices.

I used to be so scared of eating mangoes and bananas, thinking they would spike my blood sugar too much. It's really stressful to figure out what is safe. But actually, natural sugar is much safer than white sugar, though moderation is always good.

Arrey, don't stress too much about fruits! They are super healthy and way better than eating biscuits or sweets. Enjoy your apples and oranges without guilt, just don't overdo the high-sugar ones like mangoes if you are worried.

Fruits are natural foods, they won't cause diabetes on their own. Instead of worrying, just have one or two seasonal fruits a day like an apple or papaya. Just avoid eating them late at night or adding extra sugar on top.

I also panicked when my doctor told me to watch my sugar, and I completely stopped eating fruits. Later, the nutritionist explained that whole fruits are totally fine and normal to consume. Now I eat them daily and my sugar levels are absolutely fine.

I have been helping people manage their diets here for a long time, and I can tell you that whole fruits do not cause diabetes. They are loaded with fiber which is actually good for your metabolism. Just eat them whole instead of making juices.

I have thyroid issues so my metabolism is slow, but fruits have never caused issues for me. The natural fiber keeps things in balance. It is still a good habit to get your fasting sugar and HbA1c checked annually just to monitor your metabolic health.
