Can stroke patients feel pain on affected side?

My father had a stroke that affected his left side, and he keeps complaining of pain and strange sensations on that side, even though he can't move it properly. We thought he wouldn't feel anything there. Is it common for stroke patients to experience pain on their affected side?

Haan, bilkul feel ho sakta hai. Log sochte hain ki paralyzed side pe kuch mahsoos nahi hoga, par central pain ya jalan bohot hoti hai na. Mere taya ji ko bhi bohot dard hota tha affected leg mein, so it is quite common.

Actually yaar, it is a real medical condition called thalamic pain syndrome. The brain starts sending wrong pain signals from the paralyzed side, and it can be super irritating for the patient. You should tell their doctor so they can prescribe the right nerve pain meds.

Haan na, it is called central post-stroke pain and it can be very painful for them. Even a light touch can sometimes feel like burning, ho na? We must be very gentle while massaging or moving their weak arm.

Ji haan, mere padosi chacha ko stroke ke baad unke kamzor hath mein bohot tez chubhan aur dard hota tha. Hum sochte the ki wahan toh jaan nahi hai, fir dard kaise ho raha hai. Par unka beta bola ki dimag ki naso ki wajah se aisa hota hai.

While I only have experience managing chronic aches from PCOS, nerve-related pain is very complex. Post-stroke pain on the affected side is quite common due to damaged brain pathways. It's best to discuss this with their neurologist for a safe management plan.

My father had severe joint stiffness and burning on his weak side, and we ignored it thinking it was just weakness. It turned out to be a severe contracture that required intense therapy. Please see their doctor immediately to get this pain diagnosed properly.
