Can stress elevate liver enzymes?

During my last check-up, my blood test results showed slightly elevated liver enzymes. My doctor couldn't find any other obvious cause, but I've been under extreme work pressure for months. Is it possible that stress alone can cause liver enzymes to go up?

My physician explained that during high stress, the body releases inflammatory cytokines which can cause a mild fluctuation in SGOT and SGPT levels. However, he warned me that significant elevation usually points to fatty liver or medication side effects, so a proper ultrasound is needed.

Taking a spoonful of amla juice or warm water with turmeric can help cleanse the liver naturally when you are under pressure. But please don't just rely on home remedies; if your enzyme levels are very high, you must consult a gastroenterologist.

My routine blood test showed slightly high liver enzymes last week, and I have been so worried! I was under a lot of pressure at work, so could that really be the reason? Has anyone else seen their SGPT go down once their stress decreased?

I had elevated SGPT levels during a high-pressure project. My doctor advised me to cut down on junk food, sleep at least 7 hours, and re-test after a month. It worked, but you definitely need a medical professional to guide you on this.

Don't listen to people online saying stress is the only reason for high liver enzymes. It could be due to a viral infection, fatty liver, or even standard painkillers you took. Please take your lab reports to a qualified doctor to get a correct diagnosis.

Let's be clear—stress doesn't operate in a vacuum. It usually comes with poor sleep, eating trash, and maybe extra drinks on weekends, all of which shoot up your liver enzymes. Get an LFT panel done and clean up your lifestyle.
