Can stress cause sleep paralysis?

Sometimes, when I'm super stressed about my college assignments, I wake up but can't move or speak for a few moments. It's really scary. Can stress be the reason for these episodes of sleep paralysis?

In my youth, when I was struggling with my new shop, I used to wake up unable to move. It is very frightening, but it is just your body reacting to exhaustion and worry. Sleep on time and trust that it will pass once your mind is at peace.

Yes, an overloaded nervous system often triggers these scary episodes. Try doing 10 minutes of deep belly breathing or Nadi Shodhana pranayama before sleeping. It calms the mind and helps transition smoothly into deep sleep.

Bro, I got sleep paralysis during my final semester and it was crazy scary, like someone was sitting on my chest. It only happened when I pulled all-nighters under heavy stress. Sleep properly and it won't happen, don't worry.

My physician explained that stress disrupts our REM sleep cycle, causing us to wake up while our muscles are still in a paralyzed state. Keeping a consistent sleep schedule and avoiding caffeine late in the day is crucial to prevent this.

My sleep tracker showed my sleep quality was horrible and REM sleep was highly fragmented when I had an episode of sleep paralysis last month. High stress levels were clearly visible in my daily health data. Definitely try to track your sleep hygiene.
