Can sore throat cause teeth pain?

Since yesterday, my throat has been quite sore, and now I'm feeling a weird ache in my teeth too. Is it possible for a sore throat to somehow cause pain in the teeth? It's a bit worrying.

Oh god, this happens to me every time I get a bad cold and I immediately panic thinking I need a root canal! The pressure from swollen lymph nodes or sinuses can definitely radiate down to your teeth. But do keep an eye on it just in case.

Sometimes when our immunity is low, inflammation in the throat can make the jaw and nearby teeth feel very tender. I usually wait for the throat infection to subside first. If the toothache stays even after the throat is fine, then it's dental.

At my age, one day it's the neck, next day it's the jaw. Yes, a bad throat infection can make your whole face ache, including the teeth. Just gargle with warm salt water and let the throat heal first before booking a dentist.

It is usually sinus pressure causing that ache, not the sore throat directly. The sinus cavities sit right above your upper teeth, so when they get congested, your teeth feel the pressure. It should clear up once the congestion goes.

Yes, referred pain is quite common because of shared nerve pathways in the face. Just make sure if you are using throat lozenges for relief, pick the sugar-free ones so your glucose levels don't spike up unexpectedly.

I had a massive tonsil infection last winter and my back molars were throbbing. The doctor explained that the nerve endings are very close by, so throat pain easily travels to the jaw. Warm salt water gargles helped both my throat and teeth.
