Can someone outgrow asthma?
My younger sister, who is 18, has had asthma since childhood, and we've always hoped she would grow out of it as she got older. Is it true that some children with asthma eventually outgrow the condition?

I can only speak from my own life, but my severe childhood asthma completely disappeared once I hit my late teens. I haven't needed an inhaler in over fifteen years now.
I remember crying so many times as a kid because I couldn't play sports with others. It was really hard emotionally, but thankfully my symptoms naturally faded away as I grew up. It really can get better.
I always worry that even if it seems to go away, it might suddenly come back during a bad flu season or due to pollution. Please keep an eye on any minor coughing and always have a doctor's contact handy, just for peace of mind.
I was actually reading up on this because my cousin has it. Apparently, many kids do outgrow it as their lungs develop, but for some, it can return later in adulthood. It's quite fascinating how our bodies change.
My son used to get attacks every winter, which kept us up all night. Now that he is 16, he rarely has any issues, though we still keep an inhaler at home just in case. Don't worry, keep their immunity up and things will improve.
My grandmother used to say that changing weather causes temporary breathing blocks that go away with age. While her herbal tea gave comfort, we relied completely on our pediatrician's advice, and thankfully my daughter outgrew her wheezing by age 10.
