Can smelling farts prevent cancer?

My friends were joking around the other day and someone said that smelling farts can actually prevent cancer. It sounds completely mad, but I just wanted to check if there's any weird scientific backing to such a claim. Or is it just a silly internet rumour?

This is a completely misinterpreted scientific study. A compound called hydrogen sulfide was studied for cellular health in labs, but inhaling gas directly does absolutely nothing to prevent cancer. Don't believe these absurd internet rumors.

Please don't rely on such bizarre theories for health. Real cancer prevention comes from healthy living, avoiding tobacco, and getting regular medical screenings when you feel something is off.

My family always says to ignore these funny internet WhatsApp forwards. My doctor friend laughed when I asked and said it is a total myth with no medical basis. Stick to a good diet and exercise instead.

My cousin who is a gastroenterologist explained this to me. The study was about delivering micro-amounts of hydrogen sulfide directly to mitochondria in a lab dish, not about inhaling flatulence. Inhaling it in real life has zero preventive benefits.
