Can sleep deprivation cause psychosis?

My brother hasn't been sleeping well for weeks, barely an hour or two a night, and now he's acting really strangely, talking to himself and seeing things. Our family is very scared. Could such severe lack of sleep really lead to something like psychosis?

Oh, that sounds incredibly scary to even think about. While severe sleep deprivation can make your mind play tricks on you, please don't panic. Just focus on resting your body, and don't hesitate to reach out to a professional for support.

Yes, prolonged lack of sleep is highly dangerous for brain chemistry and can trigger acute mental confusion. This is a serious symptom that you must not self-diagnose. Please consult a qualified psychiatrist or doctor immediately.

Haan, jab dimaag ko kai dinon tak rest nahi milta toh woh dhang se function nahi kar pata na. Confusion aur ajeeb thoughts aane lagte hain. Isko halke mein mat lo, doctor ko turant dikhana sabse safe rahega.

In extreme cases of sleep debt, the brain struggles to separate reality from imagination. For your own safety and productivity, you need to address this immediately. Get professional medical help to restore your sleep cycle safely.

This is so terrifying. Sometimes when I am extremely sleep-deprived, I feel completely disconnected from reality and it panics me. Has anyone else felt this strange detachment? It makes me feel like I am losing control.

I can only share what happened to my cousin, who didn't sleep for four days due to severe stress. He started talking very incoherently and was highly paranoid. Hospital care and proper medication were required to stabilize him.

In my long life, I have seen that the mind becomes very fragile without rest. Do not let fear consume you, but do respect your body's limits. Seek the help of a good doctor, rest your mind, and everything will slowly settle back to normal.

I suffered from severe insomnia and experienced mild delirium once. The brain needs REM cycles to filter out cognitive debris. My tip is to immediately seek medical intervention to break the sleepless cycle, as you cannot fix severe sleep debt alone.
