Can sleep apnea cause pulmonary hypertension?

My sister has severe sleep apnea, and her doctor recently mentioned a risk of pulmonary hypertension. We don't fully understand what that means. Can sleep apnea actually lead to increased blood pressure in the lungs?

Actually yaaar, my doctor told me that chronic low oxygen levels from apnea can cause the lung arteries to constrict, leading to high pressure there. It's serious stuff, so please get a proper clinical opinion.

Even if you are eating clean and working out regularly, mechanical sleep issues can strain your lungs and heart. Fitness alone cannot cure sleep apnea, so please consult a medical specialist for a proper checkup.

I have been reading about this link and got really anxious about my chest tightness. Has anyone else here felt a heavy chest after waking up? I am seriously thinking of booking a doctor's appointment tomorrow.

Honestly, this sounds like some heavy medical stuff. My dad snorers a lot and has lung issues, so this is kind of scary to read. Definitely best to consult a real doc rather than searching online.

I was researching pulmonary issues recently and saw that chronic hypoxia from sleep apnea can indeed elevate pressure in the lung arteries. It's a very serious link, so a proper medical evaluation is absolutely necessary.
