Can skin cancer look like ringworm?

My friend has this circular patch on her skin that looks a lot like ringworm, but it's not itchy and hasn't gone away with anti-fungal cream. She's getting a bit concerned. Can skin cancer sometimes present like ringworm?

Bro, seriously, yes. My cousin had this red, circular, scaly patch on his arm and we all thought it was fungal ringworm from the gym. He kept applying ringworm creams for months but nothing happened. Finally, the doc did a biopsy and it was a type of skin cancer. Get it checked.

Staying calm and breathing deeply helps us handle anxiety, but we must also listen to our body's physical signs. A round, scaly patch might look like a simple fungal infection, but if it doesn't heal with natural care, it could be something deeper. Please consult a vaidya or modern skin doctor.

I was actually reading about this online yesterday because of a weird mark on my leg. Apparently, superficial basal cell carcinoma can look exactly like a reddish, scaly ringworm patch. It's crazy how similar they look, which is why we shouldn't self-treat with antifungal creams indefinitely.

That is a very good question. Yes, certain skin cancers can mimic the circular, red borders of ringworm. I always scan my skin changes and log them on my health app to track the healing progress. If a patch doesn't resolve in 2-3 weeks, my app suggests scheduling a dermatologist consult.

Applying cheap over-the-counter ringworm creams might seem like a budget-friendly option, but if it is actually skin cancer, delaying will cost much more later. Save up for a proper 500 rupee dermatologist consultation now. It is much cheaper to catch these things early before major surgery is needed.

Oh my god, I have this exact same doubt! I have a round, reddish patch on my neck that isn't going away even after using antifungal dust for weeks. Now I am getting really scared. Has anyone else here had a patch that looked like ringworm but turned out to be something else?

Yes, it is clinically possible. A scaly, circular lesion that mimics tinea (ringworm) but doesn't respond to standard antifungal treatments can be a sign of skin malignancy, like squamous cell carcinoma in situ. I highly recommend getting a formal evaluation and a skin biopsy from a dermatologist.
