Can skin cancer be inherited?

My grandmother had skin cancer, and I'm a bit concerned about my own risk. I wanted to know if skin cancer can be inherited through families.

Hey, don't stress too much! While there can be a genetic link, especially for things like melanoma, most cases are from sun exposure. Just use your sunscreen regularly and you will be fine.

Yes, a family history of melanoma can increase your risk significantly. My family has a history of skin issues and we have to be extremely careful; please consult a doctor to understand your risk factors.

I didn't know skin cancer could run in families... My grandfather had a skin lesion removed last year. Does this mean I also need to get my moles checked regularly?

I think there is some genetic risk, but honestly, here in India, we should be more worried about protecting ourselves from the harsh sun anyway. Just wear sunscreen and don't worry too much.

Don't rely on random advice online about genetic risks. While certain gene mutations can increase susceptibility, only an oncologist or genetic specialist can give you accurate facts. Verify with a professional.

Honestly bro, my dad had skin cancer and the doctor told us that while genetics play a role, sun protection is the most important factor. I just get a yearly checkup now to be on the safe side.
