Can sitting cause low back pain?

My lower back starts hurting a lot, especially after I've been sitting for long periods, like during my office work or long commutes. Is it common for sitting to directly cause low back pain?

I completely understand how worrying it is when your low back starts throbbing after a long day of sitting. It is very natural to feel anxious about it, but it's usually just muscle strain from lack of movement.

Haan, same here! Sitting at my desk all day for work literally kills my lower back. I started using a small cushion behind my back and it really helps to support the spine.

Long sitting hours can put a lot of pressure on your pelvic region and lower back. Since hormonal issues can also cause back pain, I always prefer checking with my doctor rather than assuming it's just from sitting.

I literally just recovered from a bad bout of low back pain. My doctor told me it was because of my terrible sitting posture during office hours; doing basic lower back stretches every morning solved it for me.

I totally get it, dealing with that constant dull ache in your lower back after sitting makes even relaxing difficult. Trying to stand up and walk around for just two minutes every hour can make a big difference.
