Can sinus drainage cause vomiting?

My son has been having a lot of sinus issues lately, and sometimes after a bout of coughing and congestion, he ends up throwing up. We're not sure if it's the phlegm or something else. Can sinus drainage actually cause vomiting, or is this a separate problem?

Honestly, I had this post-nasal drip last year and the constant throat irritation made me throw up twice. I went straight to Max Hospital and my ENT explained how the excess mucus trickles into the stomach and irritates the lining. Please ask your doctor clearly about this so they can give you the right nasal spray to dry it up.

It can definitely happen, especially on an empty stomach when all that phlegm goes down. I try to avoid heavy, dairy-based foods when my sinuses are blocked because it makes the mucus thicker and worse. Try drinking warm ginger water or plain warm water throughout the day to keep your stomach calm, but don't force yourself to eat heavy meals.

Actually, I was reading up on this exact thing last week because my cousin was feeling super nauseous with his cold. Turns out the drainage runs down the back of your throat, which can trigger your gag reflex or just mess with your stomach. It is surprisingly common, but check with a doc if it keeps happening.

Yes, sinus drainage can irritate both your throat and your gastrointestinal tract, leading to nausea and vomiting. While managing the congestion helps, it's always best to get a doctor's opinion to rule out any stomach infection. Self-treating too long with home remedies might just delay the proper relief you need.

Mere saath bhi yeh ho chuka hai, beta. All that thick mucus dripping inside causes severe nausea and sometimes vomiting, especially in the morning. Try doing steam inhalation with a drop of eucalyptus oil twice a day and do warm saltwater gargles to clear the throat. It really helps soothe the system naturally, but do consult a doctor if you can't keep any food down.

Yaar, actually yes! When I had bad sinus, the post-nasal drip was so annoying that I used to wake up feeling totally pukish. It’s just the mucus irritating your stomach, so don't panic. Just stay hydrated and get a good doc to check it out if it’s too bad.

Having thyroid issues already makes my digestion a bit sensitive, and sinus drainage absolutely triggers my nausea and vomiting. When your body is fighting inflammation, everything gets linked. I highly recommend getting a routine checkup done and letting your doctor handle the treatment plan rather than ignoring it.
