Can sinus congestion cause tooth pain?

Every time I get sinus congestion, I also notice a dull ache in my upper teeth. I'm wondering if this is a common thing. Can sinus congestion actually cause tooth pain, or am I imagining the connection?

Of course it can. The sinus cavities are right above your upper teeth, so when they get blocked with fluid, the pressure directly hits your tooth roots. Just treat the congestion and the pain will go.

I totally get it, that throbbing tooth pain when you bend forward is honestly so miserable. It is a very classic symptom of maxillary sinus congestion, so don't worry too much, just focus on clearing your nose.

Yes, sinus congestion increases pressure in the maxillary cavity, which directly compresses the superior alveolar nerves running to your upper teeth. You should consult a dentist first to rule out any dental pathology before treating it as sinusitis.

Our old remedies of inhaling steam with eucalyptus oil or chewing a warm clove can help reduce both sinus blockages and the resulting jaw pain. But do take rest and consult a doctor if the pain is severe.

Please don't rely on random home remedies to treat this, as a severe sinus infection can spread to the jawbone. Go to a proper clinic and let a doctor diagnose if it's a dental issue or sinusitis.
