Can shoulder impingement cause neck pain?

I was diagnosed with shoulder impingement a few months ago, and I've been doing physical therapy. Lately, I've also developed a constant neck ache. Can shoulder impingement actually cause neck pain as well, or are these two separate issues?

I had a shoulder impingement last year, and within two weeks, my neck also started hurting badly. My physiotherapist said it's because I was tensing my neck muscles to protect my painful shoulder. It went away once my shoulder healed.

Our body parts are all deeply connected, and pain in one area often travels to another. Keep your mind positive, try to relax your shoulders, and let the healing happen. Take proper medical care and trust that you will be fine soon.

Absolutely, when my shoulder impingement flared up, my neck stiffened up so much I couldn't even look down to enjoy my plate of biryani! It's all connected. Just don't let the pain ruin your appetite, eat well and see a doc.

Since I have PCOS, I often deal with chronic muscle inflammation, and a shoulder injury can easily cause referred pain in the neck. I would suggest not self-diagnosing too much. It's always safer to consult a physiotherapist for a proper assessment.

I tried all kinds of warm mustard oil massages and herbal packs when my shoulder and neck were aching together. It gave temporary relief, but a proper doctor's exercise routine is what actually cured the impingement. Be practical and consult a specialist.

I was terrified when my neck started aching along with my shoulder, thinking it was a spinal issue. But the doctor reassured me it's just muscle compensation, which is totally normal with shoulder impingement. It cleared up easily with basic exercises, so relax!

While it's very common for shoulder issues to radiate pain to the neck, you should always get a clinical checkup. Neck pain can sometimes stem from nerve compression in the cervical spine, so a doctor's evaluation is necessary for safety.

According to my posture tracking app and physio, shoulder impingement alters your scapular movement. This extra load on your upper trapezius muscle directly causes neck stiffness. Focus on rotator cuff strengthening and scapular retraction exercises.
