Can shingles cause throat pain?

Since my shingles episode, I've had this nagging sore throat that just won't go away completely. I'm wondering if it's connected. Can shingles actually cause throat pain as one of its symptoms or a post-infection issue?

Man, as if the itchy shingles rash wasn't enough punishment, now a sore throat too? If the rash is near your neck or face, it can definitely make swallowing feel like swallowing glass. Just get some ice cream and see your doc, at least the ice cream will make you feel better!

When shingles affects the upper body nerves, it can cause pain that spreads to the throat. You can do warm water gargles with a pinch of turmeric and salt to soothe the raw feeling. But remember, this is a viral nerve issue, so taking doctor's medicines is very necessary.

Yes, shingles around the neck or ears often radiates pain straight to the throat. Eat soft, simple foods like khichdi or warm soup which are easy to swallow without irritating the throat. Don't worry, once the main viral infection settles, this pain will also go.

If you have diabetes, your immunity is lower and shingles can hit harder, causing throat pain and burning. Be very careful with sweet cough syrups or honey remedies for throat pain, as they will spike your sugar levels. Stick to sugar-free warm fluids and follow your doctor's prescription.
