Can shingles cause muscle pain?

I've been experiencing a lot of muscle pain all over my body since I recovered from shingles. It's quite debilitating sometimes. Is it possible that shingles can cause muscle pain that lingers even after the rash is gone?

I get so worried when I feel sudden sharp muscle pains, thinking it's something severe like a heart issue or nerve damage. With shingles, the virus causes deep neural pain that feels exactly like intense muscle aches. Hope you find relief soon, please do consult your doctor to ease your mind.

Absolutely, shingles attacks the nerves which directly causes intense, shooting pain in the surrounding muscles. Don't waste time trying to massage it away, as that can make the rash worse. Just get on a proper nerve pain medication from your doctor.

Haan na, the muscle pain during shingles is very troubling, it feels like a heavy cramp. We think it's just weakness, but the virus is actually irritating the nerve pathway. Please rest well and take the doctor's medicines on time.
