Can sewer gas kill you in your sleep?

We had some plumbing issues recently, and there was a strange smell in the bathroom for a while. My husband joked about sewer gas, but it actually made me a bit anxious. Can sewer gas be dangerous enough to kill someone in their sleep?

I am really sorry if this is a silly question, but is sewer gas actually that dangerous? Does it have a strong smell that can wake you up, or is it completely odorless so you wouldn't even notice while sleeping?

Haan babu, yeh bilkul sach hai. Gutter ki gas bahut jahreeli hoti hai, khaaskar methane aur hydrogen sulfide. Agar pipe leak ho toh soye soye dam ghut sakta hai. Turant apne ghar ke pipe thik karwao, isme laaparwahi mat karo.

Ugh, that horrible rotten egg smell is the worst, it completely ruins my appetite for dinner! Honestly, high levels of sewer gas are actually highly toxic and can be fatal. If you smell that in your house, don't ignore it—call a plumber immediately before sleeping there.

I know how scary it is to smell that foul sewer odor in the house. I used to pour baking soda and vinegar down the drains, which helped with mild smells. But if there is a major leak, home remedies won't save you from toxic gases. Please keep your windows open and get a professional plumber.

Yes, high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide in sewer gas can displace oxygen and cause asphyxiation in your sleep. If you have an unused bathroom, pour water in the drains weekly to keep the trap sealed. Don't delay getting a plumbing inspection if you notice persistent smells.

As if my daily office stress wasn't enough to kill me, now I have to worry about sewer gas too! But seriously, jokes apart, toxic gas buildup is extremely dangerous and can be fatal. Get your bathroom U-traps checked by a plumber before you sleep in a smelly room.

Bro, yes, sewer gas has hydrogen sulfide which is highly poisonous in large amounts. If there is a major backup in your building pipes, it can literally suffocate you while you sleep. If you smell rotten eggs in your room, get out, open all windows, and call a plumber.
