Can seasonal allergies cause asthma?

Every year, my seasonal allergies get worse with sneezing and runny nose. Lately, I've also been feeling a tightness in my chest and sometimes shortness of breath. Can allergies actually lead to asthma over time?

According to my health tracker logs, my breathing patterns definitely dip during peak pollen seasons. Seasonal allergies can trigger allergic asthma because the same allergens that cause sneezing also irritate your lungs. It's a good idea to track your symptoms and show them to a doctor.

I have been having this constant wheezing ever since the weather changed, and I am so scared it might turn into permanent asthma. Does anyone else get a tight chest just from normal pollen allergies? I feel really anxious about this.

If you suspect this, get an allergy test and a spirometry test done at a certified lab; they are not very expensive if you plan and compare prices online. Knowing your triggers early will save you a lot of money on emergency medicines later. Speak to a general physician first.

Managing my thyroid has taught me that the body's immune response is highly connected. Seasonal allergies can definitely flare up airway inflammation and cause allergic asthma. I highly suggest getting regular checkups with your family doctor to keep both issues under control.

Please don't take this lightly because I ignored my seasonal cough and it ended up turning into severe asthma which required an inhaler. Allergies absolutely can trigger asthma attacks. Go to a pulmonologist or a doctor before the symptoms get worse.
