Can sciatica cause calf pain?

Having sciatica, the pain often goes down to my calf muscles, making them feel tight and sore. I know it can affect the leg, but does sciatica commonly cause specific calf pain?

Dekho, seedhi baat hai, sciatica ka dard back se shuru hokar calf tak jata hi hai. Mere bhai ko bhi lagta tha ki gym mein muscle pull hua hai, par sciatica nikla. Faltu ka massage mat karwana, pehle doctor ko dikhao.

With my PCOS, I already deal with so much muscle inflammation, and when I had calf pain, I learned it could be sciatica. I am no expert, but yes, the nerve path absolutely affects the calf. Please consult a specialist rather than guessing.

Yes, calf pain is a classic symptom of sciatica. Applying a warm gel or heating pad on the lower back often helps more than applying it directly to the calf.

I had severe calf pain for three months due to L4-L5 disc herniation compressing the nerve. My advice is to avoid prolonged sitting and start core strengthening once the acute phase passes. A good orthopedist will guide you through the right exercises.

Welcome to middle age, where a back issue shows up as a screaming calf pain! Yes, sciatica loves to travel down to the calf to surprise us. Best to take it easy, put your feet up, and let the doctor handle it.

Beta, the sciatic nerve is the longest nerve, so it is very common for the calf to feel tight or painful. You can do some light stretching and drink warm milk with a pinch of haldi. But do not ignore it if the pain is severe; consult a doctor.

Calf pain can also be due to blood circulation issues or DVT, which can be risky, so please don't just assume it is sciatica. It is incredibly important to get a proper checkup from a qualified medical professional to be safe.

I tried everything from turmeric milk to hot mustard oil massage for my calf pain, but nothing worked because the problem was actually in my spine nerve. I completely understand your pain. Please save your time and visit a physiotherapist.
