Can sciatic nerve cause foot pain?

This shooting pain from my lower back all the way down to my foot has been bothering me. My physio mentioned it might be sciatica. Can the sciatic nerve actually cause pain that goes all the way into the foot?

I completely understand how scary it is when pain starts radiating all the way down to your foot, it makes you feel like something is seriously wrong with your leg. When I first felt it, I panicked. But it turned out to be sciatica—the nerve starts in the lower back but can send sharp pain, tingling, or numbness all the way to your toes. You are not alone in this.

Don't worry too much, yes, the sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in your body, so it is very common for the pain to travel down your thigh, calf, and right into your foot. Just avoid lifting heavy weights and sitting for too long right now. Let a doctor check it, and they will likely suggest some gentle stretches to relieve the pressure.

My foot has been tingling and hurting for three days now, and I am so anxious thinking it might be permanent nerve damage. Is it really just sciatica? Please tell me if anyone else had their foot pain go away after doing physiotherapy, I really need some reassurance.

Actually, yaar, sciatic nerve is exactly what causes that weird shooting foot pain. People think it's only a back problem, but the pain literally travels down the whole leg. I had it last year and a few physiotherapy sessions totally fixed it. Definitely get a doctor to check it out.

Yes, sciatic nerve compression often manifests as pain or numbness in the foot. Along with regular medical treatment, make sure you are getting enough Vitamin B12 and magnesium through your diet, as these are crucial for nerve health. Milk, yogurt, and leafy greens can support your recovery.
