Can scar tissue cause pain?

An accident a few years back left me with a scar, and though the wound healed, the scar sometimes feels sore and painful. My father says it's just old scar tissue. Can scar tissue actually cause pain, or should I be concerned?

Don't try massaging it heavily or applying random heat packs based on online forums, as you could damage the tissue further. Pain in old scars can sometimes be due to trapped nerves. It is best to have a physician evaluate it properly.

Yes, scar tissue can definitely cause a dull pain or stiffness as it heals and tightens. Please be gentle with the area and don't strain yourself. Wishing you a peaceful recovery.

Scar tissue is less elastic than normal skin, which causes pulling and discomfort. Gently massaging the area with warm mustard or sesame oil, combined with soft stretching, helped me release the tension in my old surgical scar. Listen to your body and move slowly.

Haan bhai, scar tissue bilkul pain karta hai kyunki woh normal skin jaisa flexible nahi hota. Agar bohot zyada khinchaw ya tej dard ho raha hai, toh ghar par baithne ke bajaye doctor ko dikhao. Woh koi cream ya physiotherapy suggest kar denge.

My appendix scar still randomly hurts at midnight when I am trying to sleep, like a tiny reminder of my high medical bills. It is totally normal because the tissue is tough and pulls on surrounding muscles. Just ignore it if it's mild, or ask a doc if it's keeping you awake too.

I had some scar tissue pain after my knee surgery, which made me want to avoid movement entirely. But my physio advised light daily walking and gentle mobility exercises to keep the area flexible. If your doctor allows it, try light stretches to prevent the tissue from hardening and causing pain.

Yes, scar tissue can cause localized pain, especially if nerves were damaged or trapped during the initial injury or surgery. If the pain is sharp, shooting, or accompanied by redness and swelling, it warrants a clinical evaluation. A doctor can recommend targeted physical therapy or nerve-soothing treatments.
