Can rosuvastatin cause joint pain?

I've been taking Rosuvastatin for my cholesterol for some time now. Lately, I've developed new joint pains, especially in my knees and hands. I want to know if my medicine could be causing this.

Welcome to the club! I started Rosuvastatin six months ago and suddenly my knees started creaking like an old wooden door. It definitely causes joint and muscle stiffness in some of us. Talk to your doctor because they can easily adjust the dose or change the brand to make your life easier.

Yes, statins are quite well-known for causing muscle and joint aches. I faced this too, but after consulting my doctor, I continued with light stretching and gentle 20-minute daily walks, which actually helped keep the joints lubricated. Don't push yourself too hard though, let your doctor advise you first.

My father went through the exact same thing when he was prescribed Rosuvastatin last year. He kept complaining of shoulder and wrist pain, which we later found was a side effect of the statin. His doctor lowered his dose slightly and prescribed Coenzyme Q10, which made a huge difference.

Bhai, yes, my knees also used to ache a lot when I started this cholesterol medicine. I told my doctor and he gave me a vitamin pill along with it, and now I feel much better. You also go and tell your doctor about this pain, they will surely find a simple solution for you.

Joint and muscle pain is a very common side effect of statins like Rosuvastatin. It is usually harmless but can be quite uncomfortable to live with. Please don't stop the medicine on your own since it protects your heart, but do book an appointment with your doctor to discuss this side effect.

I totally get it, it is so annoying when you take medicine to get healthy but end up with new pains instead. My uncle had the same joint stiffness after starting this tablet. Please talk to your cardiologist, they are very used to managing this side effect and will help you out.
