Can rheumatoid arthritis cause numbness?

Sometimes I get this strange numbness and tingling sensation in my fingers and toes. I've had rheumatoid arthritis for a few years now, and I'm curious if RA could be responsible for these episodes.

Numbness can happen if swollen joints pinch your nerves, but as someone with thyroid issues, I also know that thyroid imbalances can cause similar tingling. You should get regular blood work done and follow up closely with your doctor to find the exact reason.

I tried all kinds of warm oils and herbal compresses for the numbness in my hands, but they only gave temporary relief. It is usually due to inflamed joints squeezing the nerves. It is best to let your doctor know so they can give proper nerve-strengthening medicines.

Numbness usually means a nerve is getting squeezed because of joint swelling. Maintaining a clean anti-inflammatory diet and doing very low-impact mobility drills can help reduce joint pressure. Definitely get a doctor's nod before starting any wrist or hand exercises though.

Numbness is a neurological symptom and should never be ignored, as prolonged nerve compression can lead to permanent damage. Please get it checked by your specialist as soon as possible for proper safety and diagnosis.

My teenage daughter has juvenile arthritis and often complains of numbness in her toes. Her doctor explained that joint inflammation can affect the surrounding nerves. We started using supportive footwear and regular doctor-guided therapy, which has helped her a lot.

Hey, don't get scared. Numbness in the fingers or toes is actually quite common with RA because swollen tissues put pressure on your nerves, like in carpal tunnel syndrome. Just tell your doctor about it in your next visit, they will easily guide you on how to manage it.

I have been feeling this weird numbness in my feet for the past week and it is making me so nervous. Does anyone else with RA experience this regularly? I am going to see my doc soon but wanted to know if this is common.
