Can rheumatoid arthritis cause night sweats?

For the last few months, I've been waking up drenched in sweat almost every night. I have rheumatoid arthritis, and I'm wondering if this could be a symptom related to my condition or something else completely.

While sleeping in a cool room and drinking a glass of water before bed can help, night sweats in RA are often due to active inflammation or side effects of medications. If you are regularly waking up drenched, please see your doctor instead of trying home remedies.

Yes dear, severe joint inflammation can act like a low-grade fever in the body, leading to night sweats. I have seen many people in our support group deal with this during severe flare-ups. Keep your room well-ventilated and mention this in your next clinical visit.

Night sweats can absolutely be linked to RA, usually signifying that your disease activity is high and causing systemic symptoms. It could also be a reaction to steroids or other drugs. Get a proper checkup done to pinpoint the cause.

I used to wake up totally soaked in sweat when my RA flare-up was at its peak. It was super annoying and ruined my sleep. Once my doctor adjusted my meds, it stopped completely.

I completely understand how scary it is to wake up sweating in the middle of the night, it used to give me major anxiety. But it is actually a known symptom of RA inflammation. Discussing it with my doctor really helped calm my mind.

Yes, it can happen during active flares. Please take care, wear light cotton clothes to bed, and keep yourself well hydrated.

Don't believe anyone telling you this is just 'body heat' that can be cured with some herbal drinks. Night sweats with RA can indicate active systemic inflammation or even infections. Get your blood markers checked through your doctor immediately.

I panicked so badly when I first got night sweats, thinking it was some dangerous infection or worse! But my rheumatologist reassured me it's just the body's inflammatory response during arthritis flares. It is quite common and manageable, so don't worry.
