Can rheumatoid arthritis cause neuropathy?

Someone in my support group for RA mentioned that rheumatoid arthritis can sometimes lead to nerve issues like neuropathy. I'm trying to understand if this is a common thing or something I should be very concerned about as I have RA.

Yes, RA can cause nerve damage and neuropathy due to blood vessel inflammation or joint swelling putting pressure on nerves. My doctor at Fortis told me this clearly when I complained of tingling. You should ask your doctor about getting a nerve conduction test done.

Since I have both diabetes and RA, I have to be extremely careful with neuropathy symptoms. Neuropathy can be caused by both high blood sugar and rheumatoid inflammation. Make sure you keep your sugars in check and consult your doctor to find out the exact culprit.

Actually, it can yaar. When the joints swell up, they can compress the surrounding nerves, especially in the wrists, leading to numbness or burning. Don't ignore those tingling sensations and talk to your doc soon.

My hands used to tingle a lot, and the doctor told me it's mild neuropathy from arthritis. He suggested wearing simple wrist splints at night to keep the nerves from compressing, and it has honestly helped me sleep much better without that burning feeling.
