Can rheumatoid arthritis cause itching?

My mother has rheumatoid arthritis, and lately she's been complaining about a lot of itching, especially around her joints. We're not sure if it's related to her RA or something else entirely. Could rheumatoid arthritis actually cause this kind of skin irritation and itching?

Don't listen to random internet tips telling you to apply coconut oil or some paste for this. Itching with RA can be a side effect of your medicines or some underlying vasculitis. Only your rheumatologist can tell you the real cause, so book an appointment.

Ab yehi bacha tha! First my knees were aching, and now this random skin itching starts out of nowhere. Turns out the RA medications or even the inflammation itself can cause skin issues. Keep a good moisturizer handy, it is a never-ending saga.

I log all my symptoms on my health tracker, and I noticed my skin gets really dry and itchy during joint flare-ups. The body's immune system is basically on overdrive, which can affect the skin. Try tracking when it happens so you can show the patterns to your doctor.

Yes, it can happen! 😅 Sometimes the medicines we take for RA cause dryness and itching as a side effect. Just try using a very mild soap and keep your skin hydrated. Stay positive!

I find that keeping my circulation active with light daily walks helps reduce a lot of weird RA symptoms. But if your skin is constantly itching, don't ignore it. Do some light stretching if your joints allow, and definitely mention this to your physician.

Actually, my skin gets super itchy during my periods of heavy joint pain, yaar. I thought it was some allergy, but the doc said it's related to the arthritis inflammation. It's so annoying but quite common apparently.

It is always safer to get any new symptom checked by your rheumatologist. Itching can sometimes be a sign of liver issues from arthritis medications or a nerve issue. Please do not ignore it and get a proper diagnosis.

Hey, don't stress too much about it! It's actually a pretty common issue because the immune system is acting up, or it could just be dry skin from your daily meds. Keep drinking lots of water and talk to your doctor on your next routine checkup.

Haan, bilkul ho sakta hai. RA starts affecting the blood vessels and nerves sometimes, which feels like a crawling or itching sensation. Don't start scratching till you bleed, just get your doctor to adjust your dose.

For me, taking very hot water baths made the itching much worse. I switched to lukewarm water and started applying simple, unperfumed moisturizer right after drying off. It is a cheap and effective way to get some relief before you see the doc.

RA is a systemic disease, so it doesn't just affect the joints; it can cause hives, dry skin, and intense itching too. It is usually related to active inflammation or drug reactions. Skip the home remedies and consult your doctor directly.

Yes, RA and its medications can definitely cause dry, itchy skin. It happened to me too.
