Can radon cause lung cancer?

We've been hearing a lot about radon gas in our area and its potential dangers, especially if it accumulates indoors. My neighbour is very concerned about respiratory health. Can radon exposure truly cause lung cancer, and how significant is the risk?

I am quite new to this, but I read that radon is actually the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. Is this threat very common in Indian homes too, or is it mostly an issue in Western countries with closed basements? I would love to know.

Yes, breathing in heavy gases like radon in closed, unventilated spaces can damage the lungs severely over time. In our old houses, we always kept many windows open to let fresh air circulate. While we can use Tulsi and ginger for basic coughs, for something serious like radon risk, you must get the air quality tested and see a doctor if you have a persistent cough.

Yes, absolutely, radon is a major cause of lung cancer. Having gone through my own lung health recovery journey recently, I can't stress enough how important clean air is. Please don't ignore persistent breathing issues, and get your home tested for radon if you suspect high levels.

Yes, it is well-proven that long-term exposure to radon gas is a leading cause of lung cancer, especially for smokers. Make sure your home has good ventilation, especially basement areas. If you are experiencing any ongoing respiratory issues, please consult a pulmonologist for proper evaluation.

Yes, radon is definitely a certified lung carcinogen. If you suspect exposure or are showing symptoms like a chronic cough or chest pain, do not wait or try home remedies. Please go to a hospital and get a proper chest X-ray and medical checkup done immediately.

When we were renovating our old family home, the contractor mentioned checking for radon gas because of the granite basement. I learned then that it can indeed lead to lung cancer over many years. We got our place tested just to be safe and ensure the family's peace of mind.
