Can pulled muscles cause chest pain?

I lifted something heavy the other day and felt a strain in my chest, not like a heart issue but muscular. Now I have this intermittent chest pain. Can pulled muscles really cause such discomfort in the chest area, or should I be more worried?

Yes, an intercostal muscle strain can cause sharp pain in the chest area, especially when you twist, stretch, or breathe deeply. However, because chest pain can also be a sign of cardiac issues, it is highly recommended to consult a doctor first. Getting an ECG done is the safest way to rule out anything serious.

I was looking this up recently because my brother had a sudden stitch-like pain after lifting heavy bags. Turns out the chest wall has lots of muscles that can get pulled easily during workouts or heavy lifting. It is actually quite common, but still super scary because you instantly think of heart issues.

Yes, a pulled muscle can definitely cause a lot of pain in the chest area and make you feel uneasy. Try to rest well and avoid stretching or lifting anything heavy for a few days. Take care, and please see a doctor if the pain doesn't go away soon.

It can be a muscle pull, but as a diabetic, I am always told to be extra careful with chest discomfort. Diabetics sometimes don't feel classic heart pain, so we have to monitor everything closely. I'd say skip the heavy, oily foods that cause bloating and gas which mimic chest pain, and get a quick medical checkup done.

I had a similar issue last month and went straight to a reputed hospital to get it checked. The doctor did an ECG and a physical exam, then clearly explained how the chest wall muscles had inflamed. Don't try to guess or self-diagnose at home; just book an appointment with a good specialist and get a clear answer.

Please do not ignore chest pain thinking it is just a muscle pull. I once ignored a dull tightness thinking it was acidity from heavy dinner, and it turned out to be a mild block that needed immediate attention. If you have any sweating, breathlessness, or radiating pain to the jaw or arm, go to the emergency room immediately.

I am experiencing this exact same thing right now after doing chest presses at the gym, and honestly, my anxiety is through the roof. It hurts mostly when I press on the ribs or take a deep breath, but I keep worrying if it is my heart. Did anyone else feel a sharp stabbing sensation that lasted for 3-4 days?
