Can psoriasis cause thick toenails?

My toenails have become really thick and yellow over the past year, making it uncomfortable to wear shoes sometimes. I also have psoriasis on my feet. Is it possible for psoriasis to cause such thick toenails?

Oh, yes it can! My big toenail started looking like a thick, yellow corn chip. I thought I was turning into a creature from a fantasy film, but my dermatologist told me nail psoriasis is extremely common and causes thickening. Keep them trimmed unless you want to rip your socks!

Look, psoriasis affects your nails just like it affects your skin, making them thick and rough. Stop ignoring it or trying to file them down aggressively at home. Show it to your doctor so they can give you a proper nail lacquer or treatment.

Yes, nail psoriasis frequently causes toenails to become thick and crumbly. Don't assume it's just a fungal infection and buy random over-the-counter creams. Go straight to a dermatologist to get the right diagnosis and targeted treatment.

I totally get it, dealing with thick and yellowing toenails can be so embarrassing when you want to wear open sandals. It is a very common part of psoriasis, so please don't feel bad about it. Keeping them moisturized and trimmed gently helps a lot.

Yes! It makes your toenails grow extra armor for absolutely no reason. It's just your body being over-enthusiastic about making skin cells on your nails. A quick chat with your doc will help you manage it, so don't stress.
