Can psoriasis become infected?

My psoriasis patches sometimes get very itchy, and I end up scratching them quite a bit. I'm worried about them getting worse. Can these psoriasis patches actually become infected?

Yes, it absolutely can if the skin cracks and bacteria gets in. I go to a private clinic in Kolkata, and my dermatologist explicitly warned me not to scratch the patches because of the high risk of infection. If you notice any yellow pus or sudden swelling, ask your doctor immediately for the right ointment.

Please don't ignore it if the patches start hurting or feeling too warm. I once ignored a small cracked patch on my leg thinking it's just dry skin, and it turned into a nasty painful infection that needed heavy antibiotics. Get it checked by a doc right away if you feel something is off.

Oh, definitely! Scratching those itchy patches is like inviting guests to a party they weren't asked to join. Our hands carry so much dirt, and one bad scratch can easily lead to an infection. It is hard to resist, but keeping your nails short is the only way to save yourself some extra trouble.

Yes, if the skin breaks open, there is always a chance of infection. Just try to keep the area moisturized and clean so it doesn't crack. Don't worry too much, just be gentle with your skin.

Dude, totally. If u scratch it constantly with dirty fingernails, it is bound to get infected. I learned it the hard way during exam stress. Just apply some mild moisturizer and try to keep your hands off it.

I panicked so badly last year when my patch turned red and warm, thinking it was a major infection. My doctor told me it was just mild irritation from tight clothes, but she still gave me a soothing cream. It is very common, so don't lose sleep over it, just get a doctor to look at it to be safe.

Our bodies sometimes react to the stress we carry inside, which makes the skin weak and prone to infections. Keep your mind calm and take care of your physical self with love. If you feel any unusual pain, just visit your doctor and keep a positive outlook.

Haan bilkul ho sakta hai infection, skin jab dry hoke phatne lagti hai na toh dhyan rakhna padta hai. Scratch bilkul mat karo, nahi toh thoda pus ya pain badh jayega. Clean rakho area ko bas.
