Can psa levels go down with prostate cancer?

My latest PSA test results were a bit confusing; they actually went down slightly from last time. My doctor mentioned prostate cancer as a possibility in the past. Is it possible for PSA levels to decrease even if someone has prostate cancer?

Yes, they absolutely can, especially when your treatment like hormone therapy or chemotherapy is working successfully! It is always great news to see those numbers drop during treatment.

In my experience with senior family members, PSA levels usually go down significantly when the medical treatment or therapies are working well. Along with modern medicines, keeping the body stress-free with gentle pranayama helps in overall recovery.

If a patient is undergoing active treatment like hormone therapy, PSA levels will naturally drop. However, if the PSA levels drop without any ongoing treatment, or if they fluctuate, it still requires strict medical monitoring. Don't make assumptions on your own; consult your oncologist.

Yes, PSA levels decrease when the cancer is responding to treatment. The most practical thing is to keep a file of all blood reports chronologically so your doctor can easily track the trend during your regular follow-ups.

Bhaiya, jab doctor sahab ki davai chal rahi hoti hai, toh PSA ka level niche aa jata hai. Iska matlab hai ki ilaaj asar kar raha hai. Aap chinta mat kijiye aur doctor sahab se khul kar baat karte rahiye.

We consult at Apollo Hospital, and the oncologists there clearly explained that PSA levels dropping is the primary indicator of successful treatment. However, you must ask your treating doctor directly to understand what the specific numbers mean in your case.

Even if your PSA levels are going down, never skip your scheduled clinical checks or imaging. Sometimes, rare types of advanced prostate cancer don't produce much PSA, so relying only on blood tests isn't safe. Keep getting regular doctor checkups.

We panicked when my father's PSA levels fluctuated during his treatment. But the doctor reassured us that a drop in PSA is a very positive sign that the therapy is controlling the cancer. It is completely normal for levels to go down during treatment.
