Can prednisone cause stroke?

My mother's friend had a stroke recently, and she was also on prednisone for a long time. This has made me very anxious; can prednisone really increase the risk of a stroke?

I remember crying out of pure fear when I read about the stroke and cardiovascular risks of prednisone online. It is completely validating to feel so terrified about these extreme side effects. Just try to focus on your recovery and let your doctor monitor your vitals regularly.

Hey, listen to me, don't stress too much about this! While long-term high doses can raise blood pressure, the risk of a stroke is generally very low for normal courses. Just take your meds as told and don't spend hours searching scary things on Google.

As someone managing thyroid and dealing with long-term medication side effects, I know how important regular tests are. Prednisone can elevate blood pressure and cholesterol, which are stroke risk factors. Please make sure you get regular BP checkups and consult your physician for proper monitoring.

I've been prescribed a high dose of prednisone and I'm feeling constant headaches and dizziness. I am really anxious that this might lead to a stroke or something serious. Has anyone else felt this kind of pressure in their head while on this medicine?

I totally get it, reading about things like strokes can be absolutely frightening and can ruin your peace of mind. While prolonged steroid use can affect blood circulation, please know that doctors weigh the benefits before prescribing it. Just talk to them about your concerns to feel safer.
