Can prednisolone cause kidney problems?

My sister takes prednisolone for her arthritis, and she recently had some kidney issues. I'm wondering if this medicine can damage kidneys in the long run.

I have been on prednisolone for two weeks and I'm noticing some swelling in my feet and less urination. Can this really be a sign of kidney damage? Did anyone else here face this issue while taking steroids?

Yes, these heavy medicines put a lot of load on our kidneys and liver. While you must follow your doctor's prescription, try to drink plenty of warm water and barley water to help flush out the toxins naturally. But please don't stop the medicine without asking your doctor first.

Yes, long-term or high-dose prednisolone can definitely impact kidney function. You should get a simple kidney function test (KFT) done to be sure.

I was just reading about steroid side effects because my mom was prescribed this. It seems prednisolone can cause fluid retention and high BP, which indirectly strains the kidneys over time. It's better to keep tracking kidney markers if the course is long.

Hello, I am a bit scared because my doctor just started me on prednisolone for my skin allergy. Does this kidney risk happen even with short courses of 5 days, or is it only for long-term use? Please let me know if anyone knows about this.
