Can pre diabetics eat watermelon?

It's summer, and I love having watermelon to cool down. But some people say it has too much sugar. Can pre-diabetics eat watermelon, or is it bad for blood sugar?

I don't have time for elaborate meal prep, so grabbing watermelon slices in summer is easy. However, it has a high glycemic index, meaning it digests fast. Keep your portion to just one small cup and eat it after a high-protein meal to slow down sugar absorption.

It is so heartbreaking when summer comes and you feel like you can't even enjoy a refreshing bowl of watermelon like everyone else. I remember feeling so left out at family gatherings. Just know that you can still have a few bites, so don't feel completely deprived.

Look, watermelon has natural sugars but it also has a low glycemic load because of its high water content. This means a small bowl won't harm you, but eating half a watermelon surely will. Control your portions and you are good.

Watermelon is mostly water and super hydrating! 🍉 You can definitely enjoy it in hot weather. Just don't blend it into juice because that removes all the fiber and spikes sugar fast. Eat the fruit directly and enjoy!

I was researching glycemic index versus glycemic load because my mom is prediabetic. Watermelon has a high GI but a very low GL, which is quite interesting. It seems safe as long as it's eaten in moderate quantities and not juiced.
