Can posture cause chest pain?

I spend long hours working on my laptop, often hunched over, and I've started feeling a dull ache in my chest area. My colleague suggested it might be due to my posture. Can poor posture actually cause chest pain?

Bad posture definitely strains the chest muscles, but since I have high BP, I never take any chest pain lightly. It is always safer to get your blood pressure and heart checked by a doctor first. Once they confirm it is just muscular pain, you can work on your desk posture and stretching.

My teenage son started getting sharp chest pains from slouching over his laptop all day during online classes. We got him checked by a doctor who said it was just costochondritis from bad posture. We bought him an ergonomic chair and made him take regular walking breaks, and the pain completely stopped.

Honestly, I used to panic so much thinking it was a heart attack every time my chest hurt, but actually it was just my terrible posture at my work desk. Slouching pinches the muscles around your ribs and causes scary sharp pains. Definitely get a doctor's checkup to put your mind at ease first, it helps a lot with the anxiety.

I am no expert, but I can share that sitting hunched over my phone for hours gives me a dull ache right in the middle of my chest. If I sit up straight and stretch my shoulders back, the pressure slowly goes away. That is just my experience, so pay attention to how you sit during the day.

Please be very careful with this. I once ignored a dull chest pain thinking it was just bad posture or gas, but it turned out to be a serious cardiovascular issue that needed immediate medical attention. Do not assume anything; please visit a doctor and get an ECG done to rule out anything risky.

Yes, hunching forward compresses the chest cavity and restricts your lungs, causing muscle stiffness and pain. I found great relief by practicing gentle chest-opening stretches and deep pranayama daily. It helps expand the chest muscles and naturally corrects your sitting habits over time.
