Can post nasal drip cause vomiting?

My son has a lot of post-nasal drip, especially at night, and sometimes he wakes up feeling nauseous and even vomits. The doctor said it might be due to the mucus. Can post nasal drip cause vomiting, especially in children?

Haan na, it actually triggers the gag reflex very easily, especially in the morning or when you lie down. Mere saath bhi block nose ke time pe vomiting feeling hoti hai. Just try doing warm water gargles with a bit of salt before sleeping, it really helps to clear the throat.

Honestly, yes, it can happen because all that mucus goes straight down your throat and irritates the stomach. Whenever I get a bad cold, I focus on warm, light foods like simple dal khichdi and warm water to soothe my throat. Please don't try heavy foods or too many strong spices when your throat is already irritated.

In my sixty years, I have seen this happen to my children and grandchildren during season changes. That constant tickle in the back of the mouth makes the stomach feel uneasy, nothing to panic about. Drink warm ginger water throughout the day, it is a tried and tested way to calm the throat.

Yes, the excess mucus dripping down the back of the throat can irritate your stomach lining and trigger a gag reflex. I always suggest keeping a saline nasal spray handy to keep the passages clear before it drips down. If this is happening daily, a quick visit to a general physician is the best way to get relief.

Haan, bilkul ho sakta hai, jab gale mein balgam phans jata hai toh ulti jaisa lagne lagta hai. Aap thoda sa garm paani piyo aur thoda aaraam karo. Bade-boodhe kehte hain ki thodi haldi aur namak ke paani se kulla karne se gale ko bahut aaraam milta hai.

Taking a spoonful of ginger juice with honey can settle the throat and the stomach naturally. But if you are vomiting repeatedly and cannot keep fluids down, please don't just rely on home remedies. Go see a doctor to get your throat checked properly.

It is quite common because the constant mucus tickling the throat makes you cough until you feel like throwing up. Simple solution is to use steam inhalation twice a day and keep your head elevated with an extra pillow when sleeping. It keeps the mucus moving and stops it from collecting in your throat.
