Can pop cause cancer?

My younger cousin drinks a lot of fizzy drinks, and his mom is always scolding him, saying it's bad for his health and can cause cancer. Is this just an old wives' tale, or can 'pop' (soft drinks) actually cause cancer if consumed regularly?

Drinking soda or pop regularly is linked to obesity and high blood sugar, which are risk factors for health issues. If you are having chronic digestive issues or general health concerns, it's always safest to consult a doctor for a proper checkup.

Haan, excessively drinking these sugary sodas everyday is definitely not good for health, na. It won't cause cancer directly overnight, but too much sugar is bad anyway. Better to switch to nimbu paani or fresh coconut water instead.

There's no direct link saying soda directly causes cancer, but the high sugar and chemicals are definitely bad for overall health.

My grandmother always said that packaged drinks are chemicals and bad for our systems. While there's no direct proof that soda causes cancer immediately, doctors always advise keeping sugary drinks to a minimum for long-term health. Clean eating is always safer.

True, avoiding sodas is much better. Swapping them with simple buttermilk or water is a great habit to start.

Actually, soda doesn't directly cause cancer, but the artificial sweeteners and high fructose corn syrup can lead to weight gain and inflammation if consumed daily. It's best to keep them as an occasional treat rather than a daily habit.

I used to drink diet sodas all the time and then freaked out after reading articles online about sweeteners. It's so scary to think about, but moderate use is probably okay. Still, I cut down drastically just to be on the safer side!
