Can polyps bleed and not be cancer?

My father recently had a colonoscopy where they found some polyps, and there was a bit of bleeding. He's worried it's a sign of something serious. Can polyps bleed and not be cancerous, or is any bleeding a big red flag?

I literally spend hours googling whenever I see even a drop of blood, so I totally feel your anxiety. But actually, my uncle had colon polyps that were bleeding quite a bit, and they turned out to be completely benign! Still, please get a doctor to check it out so you can sleep peacefully at night.

Yes, bleeding polyps are often non-cancerous, but as someone who manages chronic health issues like diabetes, I always believe in getting proper tests done immediately. Don't guess or try to manage any kind of abnormal bleeding with diet or home tips. Get a proper medical opinion.

Yes, polyps are very often benign even if they bleed, but you must get them checked by a doctor to confirm.

Honestly, typing this at 3 AM because my toddler won't sleep, but yes, they definitely can. Bleeding doesn't automatically mean the worst-case scenario, thank god. Just go see a doc, get it tested, and save yourself from going down the late-night internet rabbit hole like me.

Hey, take a deep breath. Yes, polyps bleed quite often and the vast majority of them are completely harmless, but any bleeding should always be evaluated by a doctor. Don't stress yourself out thinking of the worst, just book an appointment and let the professionals handle it.

Yes, polyps can bleed without being anything scary like cancer, but it's always best to be sure. I remember when my aunt had uterine polyps; she had to skip our family street-food crawls because of the sudden bleeding. She got them removed easily and was back to eating golgappas with us in no time!
