Can planters fasciitis cause ankle pain?

My doctor said I have plantar fasciitis, which explains my heel pain. But sometimes my ankle also feels stiff and painful, especially after walking. Is it common for plantar fasciitis to cause ankle pain as well?

Yes, it can stretch the tendons around the ankle and cause pain. Doing some gentle ankle rotations and ice packs can help, but if you notice any severe swelling or can't bear any weight at all, please see a doctor immediately.

Oh, definitely. When my heel was hurting, I was walking so weirdly to avoid the pain that my ankle started throbbing too. Wearing supportive sneakers with gel inserts really helped stabilize my ankle and reduced the strain.

It is honestly so frustrating when a heel problem starts messing up your ankle too, making even a short walk to the kitchen feel like a mountain climb. I felt so hopeless during that phase, so I totally understand your pain.

Yes, it totally can, because the whole foot structure is connected. Don't stress too much about it though, just give your feet some rest, avoid walking barefoot on hard floors, and use a cold compress.

With long working hours, standing can really aggravate both heel and ankle pain. Focus on getting orthopedic insoles for your work shoes; it is a quick and highly effective way to balance your feet without disrupting your schedule.

I ignored my ankle pain thinking it was just a normal part of the heel issue, and ended up with chronic tendon stiffness. Please don't make the same mistake I did; get it checked by a physiotherapist early.
