Can piles cause narrow stools?

Lately, I've noticed my stools are becoming much narrower than usual, and I also have piles. I'm concerned if this is related. Can piles be the cause of narrow stools?

Yes, large swollen piles can block the passage slightly and cause narrow stools. However, it's best to consult a doctor to rule out other things.

Yes, when piles swell up, they can make the stool look narrow. Do not worry too much, just eat simple home-cooked food and consult a doctor when you can.

Do not rely on online forums to explain narrow stools. While piles can cause them due to swelling, it is also a classic symptom of other serious colon issues. Go to a hospital and get a proper professional diagnosis.

I ignored my changing stool shape for months thinking it was just because of my piles, and it turned out to be a major complication that required surgery. Please do not make the same mistake I did; go and get a proper checkup immediately.

I had this and my anxiety went through the roof because Google told me the worst things. It turned out to be just swollen internal piles obstructing the path. Try not to stress too much, but definitely see a doctor to calm your mind.

My teenager had this issue when his constipation got really bad and the piles swelled up. We made sure he had fiber-rich food and sitz baths, which helped reduce the swelling, and his stool went back to normal. Please do check with a doctor.

While significantly swollen hemorrhoids can temporarily narrow the anal canal, persistent narrow stools can also be a sign of other colorectal issues. It is highly recommended to consult a gastroenterologist for a proper examination rather than assuming.

Yes, severe inflammation can cause this. I suggest keeping your diet very clean with high-fiber foods like oats and papaya, and drinking lots of water to avoid straining. But since narrow stools can have other causes, please check with a doctor.

When the swelling is large, it can indeed obstruct the passage and make the stools look narrow. In our days, we used to drink warm milk with a spoon of ghee at night to keep things smooth, but please get it examined by a doctor to be safe.

I literally faced this last month when my piles were severely swollen and prolapsed. My stool was very thin and narrow, which freaked me out, but it went back to normal once the swelling subsided after taking the doctor's prescribed meds.
