Can peroxide help gum disease?

My gums have been bleeding a bit when I brush, and I'm worried about gum disease. My father suggested trying hydrogen peroxide as a mouthwash. Can peroxide actually help improve gum disease?

Honestly, I am too tired to even brush my teeth properly tonight, let alone mix up peroxide solutions. But seriously, don't play chemist in your bathroom with hydrogen peroxide. It can burn your gums if the concentration is wrong, and that's the last thing you need.

Please be very careful with this. My uncle tried using diluted peroxide for his bleeding gums and ended up severely irritating his mouth tissues, making the pain much worse. Go to a dentist; gum disease needs proper scaling and medical treatment.

I've realized with my PCOS that quick fixes rarely work and sometimes cause more harm. Diluted peroxide is sometimes used in specific dental rinses, but doing it yourself can be tricky. It's much safer to ask your dentist for a proper medicated mouthwash.

Unless you want your mouth to bubble up like a science project volcano, please go easy on the peroxide! It might help kill some bacteria, but a trip to the dentist is much better than trying to bleach your way out of gum issues.

Yes, hydrogen peroxide is a good disinfectant and is found in some mouthwashes, but you have to use the right 3% dilution and never swallow it. Warm saltwater rinses are much safer and highly effective for gums. Still, do visit a dentist for a proper cleanup.

I totally get it, bleeding or swollen gums can be so painful and frustrating to deal with. While some people use diluted peroxide as a quick home rinse, it can be quite harsh. I really think seeing a dentist for a proper checkup will give you the best relief.

Hydrogen peroxide can help reduce plaque and control gingivitis bacteria, but only when used in specific, low concentrations under professional guidance. Overusing it can damage your oral microbiome and tooth enamel. It's best to consult a dentist for a targeted treatment plan.
