Can people with type 2 diabetes fast?

Meri wife is asking if I can fast during Navratri. Mujhe type 2 diabetes hai, so I'm not sure if it's safe for me. Doc ne bola hai khane pe dhyan rakhna hai, but fasting ka kuch bataya nahi.

Honestly, fasting with type 2 diabetes is a bit of a double-edged sword. While some studies show intermittent fasting can help with insulin sensitivity, the risk of hypoglycemia is very real if you are on medications. It is absolutely essential to speak with your endocrinologist first to adjust your dosage before you plan any fast.

Beta, I have been managing my sugar for the last twenty-five years now. In my younger days, I used to fast during festivals without thinking, but now I know better. With proper care and doctor's guidance, you can definitely manage, so don't feel disheartened at all.

Ram Ram ji. Hamare yahan toh sab vrat rakhte hain, par sugar wale bimar logon ko thoda dhyan rakhna padta hai. Aap pehle doctor babu se pooch lijiye, bina bataye bhukhe rehna thik nahi hoga aapke sharir ke liye.

Listen buddy, don't stress too much about missing out on fasting rituals. Your health comes first! If you really want to try it, just do a test run after chatting with your doc so you don't end up feeling dizzy or weak.

I actually managed to reverse my high HbA1c levels recently and tried fasting under my doctor's strict supervision. We had to change my medication timings completely so my sugar wouldn't crash. Please don't try it blindly on your own, get a personalized plan first.

In our yoga practice, we learn that fasting should cleanse the body, not cause distress. If you have type 2 diabetes, a full water fast might be too harsh on your system. Doing mild pranayama like Anulom Vilom while keeping a simple, light diet is much better and safer.

God sees your intentions, not just your empty stomach. If your health doesn't permit a strict fast, you can always do a light fruit fast or just focus on prayers. Stay positive, keep your mind calm, and let your body heal at its own pace.

My grandmother always tells us that fasting cures everything, but for my father's diabetes, we strictly follow his doctor's word. Even during festival days, we make sure he has his small meals on time. Please consult your physician before making any changes to your food schedule.

If your doctor gives you the green light to fast, make sure you don't overdo any intense workouts during that period. I'd stick to just a light 20-minute evening walk to keep circulation going. Watch your energy levels closely and break the fast immediately if you feel shaky.

If you are planning to fast, I highly recommend using a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) for those days. It lets you track how your levels behave in real-time on your phone, so u can immediately catch any sudden drops before they become dangerous. Super helpful tool!
