Can people with diabetes soak their feet in epsom salt?

My feet are often swollen and sore due to my diabetes, and a friend suggested soaking them in Epsom salt water for relief. I'm unsure if it's safe for diabetics, given the foot care precautions. Can people with diabetes soak their feet in Epsom salt?

My elders always suggest warm salt water for tired feet, but our family doctor strictly advised against it for diabetic patients. Diabetic skin is very sensitive and soaking can dry it out, leading to cracks and dangerous infections. It is safer to just wash and dry your feet gently.

Haan na, actually soaking foot in hot water is quite risky for diabetics because nerve sensation can be low. You might not realize if the water is too hot and end up getting burns or blisters. Just use lukewarm water and a mild soap instead.

Actually yaar, don't do it. Diabetic foot issues are no joke and soaking in epsom salt can dry out your skin badly, leading to infections. Just apply a good moisturizing cream after a quick shower and keep your feet dry.

At this point, my feet hurt if I just stand for ten minutes, but I avoid these fancy hot water soaks completely. If you have neuropathy, you won't even feel the micro-cuts getting worse in that water. Better to invest in a good pair of orthopedic slippers instead!

I am so tired I can barely keep my eyes open, but let me tell you, don't soak your feet. The dryness it causes will keep you up all night scratching your soles. Just wash them quickly, apply some moisture, and go to sleep.

Since I manage my PCOS carefully, I know how easily skin barrier issues can trigger inflammation. For diabetics, even a tiny skin tear from dry skin can become a major ulcer. Please be very cautious and check with your podiatrist before trying any soaks.
