Can pcos turn into endometriosis?

A friend of mine who also has PCOS was talking about how some conditions can be related. She mentioned endometriosis. I was wondering if PCOS could eventually turn into endometriosis over time?

No, PCOS cannot turn into endometriosis as they are two completely different medical conditions. If you're experiencing severe pelvic pain, don't try to self-diagnose. Book a quick consultation with a gynaecologist to get a proper ultrasound done.

Even though they are different conditions, some women can actually have both PCOS and endometriosis at the same time. Since symptoms like painful periods can overlap, it is always safer to get a proper clinical checkup and scan done to be absolutely sure.

Honestly, I was so confused about this too when my roommate got diagnosed. But our biology prof told us they are totally different—PCOS is hormonal/metabolic, while endo is tissue growing outside the uterus. So one doesn't turn into the other.

I have PCOS and I used to worry about this a lot because my period pain was getting worse. While PCOS doesn't turn into endometriosis, my doctor told me we still need to monitor any new symptoms carefully. Please consult your gynaecologist if your pain levels change.

I initially ignored my severe pelvic pain thinking it was just my usual PCOS, but it turned out I had endometriosis as well. One didn't cause the other, but having both was tough. Please see a specialist if your pain is unbearable; don't make the mistake of waiting like I did.
