Can pcos cause puffy face?

I've noticed my face often looks quite puffy, especially when I wake up in the mornings, and it stays that way for a while. I have PCOS, so I'm wondering if a puffy face is a known symptom of this condition.

Oh, I used to cry looking in the mirror thinking my face was getting permanently rounder because of PCOS! But trust me, it is just water retention and inflammation, which is very common and totally normal. Once your hormones start balancing out, the puffiness naturally goes down.

My mother always tells me to drink warm water with lemon for facial swelling, as she believes it's water retention. While that helps a bit, my doctor explained that high cortisol and insulin in PCOS can cause that puffy face look. Trusting the medical treatment is what ultimately worked for me.

Yes dear, it's often called 'PCOS face' due to hormonal bloating. Try reducing processed foods in the evening and do some light facial massage or ice rolling in the morning. It really helps drain the fluid, but keeping your hormones balanced is the main key.

I've seen my gym clients face this issue with PCOS. Sweating it out through a good 30-40 minute brisk walk or light cardio helps a lot with circulation and reduces fluid retention. Just make sure to check with your doctor before starting any intense routine.

I was also noticed some swelling on my cheeks recently since my PCOS diagnosis. Does this puffiness happen more in the morning? I am still trying to understand all these symptoms.

Yes, it absolutely can. High cortisol levels from stress combined with PCOS insulin issues lead to water retention, especially on the face. Cut down on sodium, drink tons of water, and get your thyroid levels checked too just to be sure.
