Can panic cause heart attack?

I sometimes get overwhelmed with anxiety and feel a crushing sensation in my chest. I worry a lot about my heart. Can extreme panic or anxiety actually cause a heart attack?

As my cardiologist explained, a single panic attack does not cause a heart attack in a healthy heart. However, severe chronic stress can elevate cortisol and blood pressure over time, which are risk factors. For immediate spikes, it is just adrenaline, not cardiac blockages.

While panic itself doesn't directly cause a heart attack, the symptoms are so similar that you must not take risks. If you are experiencing sudden chest tightness or breathlessness, please get evaluated at a hospital to rule out any actual heart disease.

Bro, panic won't give you a heart attack. I used to have crazy palpitations during college presentations and thought I was a goner. My doctor told me my heart is young and strong, panic is just mind games. Chill out, you're fine.

It doesn't cause a heart attack, but the stress isn't good for daily health either. A simple, cheap solution is to practice deep breathing for ten minutes every morning. If you keep your daily routine simple and get proper sleep, panic episodes will reduce.

It is so incredibly draining to feel like your own body is turning against you during panic. I used to cry thinking my panic attacks would trigger a cardiac arrest. It is okay to feel this fear, but medically, your heart is much tougher than you think.

My grandmother used to say that fear is just a passing cloud in our minds. While we must trust our doctors for medical checkups, please know that panic is just anxiety and won't physically damage your heart. God bless you with peace.

Calming your mind is the key, child. Panic does not cause a heart attack, it is just temporary wind and nervous energy. Drink a glass of cold water slowly and sit under a fan, or try chewing on a small piece of cardamom to ground yourself.
