Can pancreatitis cause diabetes?

My brother has had issues with pancreatitis for years, and now his sugar levels are also high, indicating diabetes. Is there a connection, can pancreatitis actually lead to developing diabetes?

Yes, my child, chronic pancreatitis can eventually damage the cells that produce insulin, leading to diabetes. My younger brother went through this twenty years ago. With proper diet, light walks, and the doctor's medicine, he has lived a very healthy and active life.

Yes, it can, because the pancreas gets scarred over time and struggles to make insulin. But don't let this panic you. Just focus on taking your prescribed medicines on time and eating clean, everything can be managed safely if we stay disciplined.

My uncle actually got diabetes after a bad episode of pancreatitis. Apparently, the inflammation messes up the insulin production cells. It sucks, but he just checks his sugar levels on his phone now and keeps it under control pretty easily.

Haan, bilkul ho sakta hai because pancreatitis directly damages the pancreas cells na. If the damage is too much, insulin production drops. Just make sure to get regular HbA1c tests done so you can catch any sugar changes early.

It is honestly so overwhelming to deal with pancreatitis and then have to worry about getting diabetes on top of it. I remember crying out of frustration when the doctor mentioned this risk to me. Your fear is totally natural, but please know you can handle this step-by-step.
